Blomit

We've been a little busy with all this summer "stuff". As a result, I need to do a little catching up, so here's a little Blomit-that's blog vomit if you didn't know...a variety of things, jumping all over different topics, and a bunch of it, with no apology.

Shadrik is almost constantly getting into something, or climbing on something, or eating something. I no longer enjoy the attached bar-stools on the island. Unfortunately, he's fallen off the counter twice (hey, I gotta take a bathroom break occasionally, people!) and in the 3rd picture you can see the results of those falls. One even turned into a black eye. No, he didn't learn his lesson; he still scales to the top of the counters, the shelves in the pantry, and/or the table on a daily basis.

Back in June, Sandy was gone for two weeks (military obligation) so I took the kids to my parents house for a couple of days. Shad is grandpa's lil buddy! Grandpa also caught a baby robin that the girls had to bring in and show grandma and me. It only pooped on the carpet once, and was then promptly released outside. And, as always, grandma treated us to a pancake breakfast with strawberries and whipped cream, the girls' staple when it comes to breakfast at grandma's.

I finally talked Sandy into getting a trampoline!! The day he got back from his trip he was tasked with finishing what I started (there was no way I had any hopes of getting the jumping tarp put up alone, so the frame sat for two weeks, waiting). I've had my eye on a Springfree tramp for a couple of years now and we LOVE this thing!! People always ask us if it's bouncy without the traditional springs-YES, it is very bouncy. Eliana and Olivia promptly asked to sleep on it for the night, and while Sandy and I had our doubts about letting a 4 and 6 year old sleep out there on their own, they had no concerns and, much to our surprise, even lasted all night! They've even slept on it a couple more times since! Of course, this has also been a blast for them with a sprinkler set underneath. This little purchase also led to Sandy and I getting a bunch of trees planted for shade, and a hammock, in the coming years, yay!!

My mom and dad came over for the 4th of July and we all went to watch our small town parade. Shad loved the flyover, which they did not once, but 4 times! The girls ended up making a game with some of our friends trying to get the big rigs in the parade to honk for them, and, of course, they waved their arms off and jumped like crazy to get the candy thrower's attention. They made a haul! There were SO MANY horse drawn wagons, and a bunch of them were pulled by Belgians, so we couldn't help but think of our Texas friends, the Adams. I LOVED one wagon in particular, the second picture of the 3 horse pics-it was GOR.GE.OUS. Later we stuffed ourselves with a BBQ, then stuffed ourselves again with Artic Circle's $.60 root-beer floats (a small was more like a medium), then got to enjoy fireworks all around us from the different shows in the surrounding towns, our neighbor's, and our own. It was a good day :)

We also finished up the summer reading program at the library and have moved on to swimming lessons. Can't wait for the end of July and first of August for a bunch of family visits, reunions...all that fun stuff! Dang, summer is going TOO fast!
